Moms get in FREE during Mother’s Day weekend! Treat your mom to a relaxing day in nature with guided tours, family activities and nature hikes. Click here to plan your visit. Mothers also will receive cookies from Neat-O’s Bake Shoppe in Baraboo, Wisc., coffee and flowers, while supplies last!
The weekend will be filled with fun for the whole family. Themed tours will highlight the International Crane Foundation’s captive breeding program and its efforts to assist in the reintroduction of Whooping Cranes into the eastern United States. Participants can make unique works of art for mom at the arts and crafts tables, which will include drawing, painting and origami crane folding. Visitors also can try on one of our Whooping Crane rearing costumes and do their best to imitate a Whooping Crane parent.
On Sunday, May 13, stop by our visitor center theater between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for very special presentations by puppeteer Heather Henson and Ibex Puppetry! Heather will share a 15-minute puppetry performance on the hour, every hour. Through puppetry and visual storytelling, she will share Black-necked Crane folklore from Asia. In-between presentations, visitors may create their own Black-necked Crane paper kites and prayer flags.
After viewing the cranes, visitors can enjoy the International Crane Foundation’s two miles of nature trails which include restored tallgrass prairie, native Wisconsin plant life and wildflowers.
Special thanks to our event sponsors Red Shed Garden & Gifts, O’Malley & Foss Greenhouse and Woodland Valley Farms Country Greenhouse!
