Horicon Marsh Bird Festival

May 10 @ 9:00 am May 11 @ 4:00 pm

Are you attending the Horicon Marsh Bird Festival this year? Make sure to add our events to your schedule:

From 5 to 6 p.m. on May 10 and 9 to 10 a.m. on May 11, our staff will co-lead a tour at the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters (W4279 Headquarters Rd. Mayville, WI) on Wisconsin’s Whooping Cranes. We will discuss crane biology and refuge management and highlight our work to conserve Whooping Cranes at Horicon Marsh and throughout Wisconsin. The tour includes a potential opportunity to view Whooping Cranes in the wild from a distance. Meet at the Egret Trail boardwalk parking lot at the refuge auto tour off Highway 49. This program is free, and no pre-registration is required.

In addition, stop by the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center (N7725 Highway 28 Horicon, WI) on May 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., to meet our staff at the International Crane Foundation Activity Station. You will have the opportunity to band your paper crane and learn about different strategies our scientists use to monitor cranes at Horicon and across their flyways, using the same technology we use!
