Endangered Species Day

05/21/2016 @ 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

In celebration of Endangered Species Day we are hosting a special day at our headquarters on Saturday, May 21! Activities include guided tours, roving naturalists, kids’ activities, themed presentations, and the opportunity to enjoy the world’s cranes and take a stroll through our gorgeous blooming prairies!

Join us for two unique themed talks and listen to some of our dedicated staff and colleagues as they share their knowledge. From 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m. take a seat in the Whooping Crane amphitheater and listen to Allyce Vogel and Dana Wloch speak about Whooping Crane aviculture and outreach. Then, at 1:45 p.m. – 2:14 p.m. find some space in the Wattled Crane Ampitheater and join us as we host Bishop Ngobeli, from the Johannesburg Zoo in South Africa, as he speaks about Wattled Crane conservation.

Guided tours are scheduled at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m., and there will be roving naturalists on site for most of the day, chatting about the birds and the work we do.

Additionally, the kids’ arts and crafts table will open from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. by the Whooping Crane exhibit. Kids will be able to decorate and make wearable bird masks as well as learn how to fold an origami crane!

We look forward to an exciting, fun-filled day for the entire family and hope that you join us for the celebration! Click here to plan your visit.
