Oka Biosphere Reserve

The Oka Biosphere Reserve, established in 1978, encompasses over 77,000 hectares. In 1979, a captive breeding center for the endangered Siberian Crane was established in the reserve. The Siberian Cranes bred at Oka are raised for reintroduction to the wild.
