North America: Research in the Field > Migratory Whooping Crane Reintroduction > We Need You
We Need You
Whooping Crane populations have increased substantially since the lows of the 1940s. Efforts to reintroduce Whooping Cranes to the wild have improved the odds of the species’ survival. But Whooping Cranes face a long journey before they are safe from the threat of extinction. Whooping Cranes are still the rarest of cranes, and they need your help to ensure their survival.
Seeing a Whooping Crane in the wild is an amazing sight. Helping to ensure the wildness of these young birds is critical. We must prevent these cranes from becoming accustomed to humans. Please respect these birds as you would any other wildlife; do not feed, approach, or call to them. Please observe them from a distance.
