The International Crane Foundation (ICF) is pleased to announce the appointment of James H. Hook as its President and CEO. Hook's appointment coincides with a landmark event in the effort to establish a wild Whooping Crane flock in eastern North America - the hatching of two Whooping Crane chicks at Necedah National Wildlife Refuge, WI. This historic event marks the first time in over 100 years that a Whooping Crane has hatched in the wild in the Midwest. ICF is pleased to have at its helm an experienced and energetic businessman to guide the continued growth of the organization and its innovative, collaborative programs. He will be responsible for leading the day to day operations at ICF and affecting a strong balance between the scientific and administrative elements of the foundation. Working closely with all constituents- co-founder Dr. George Archibald, employees, conservation partners, Board of Directors, donors and members - he will ensure the successful implementation of a balanced strategic plan that optimizes ICF's future.

Raised in New Mexico, Mr. Hook has an AB degree in English Literature from Stanford University and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the Harvard Business School. He has had a successful career in the military and private industry spanning more than 35 years, and brings a wide range of business experience to ICF. He has had COO and senior positions with P&L responsibility in both the financial services and the construction equipment manufacturing industries. His successful career in sales and marketing, finance and accounting, operations and administration, positions him well to be ICF's CEO.

ICF works worldwide to conserve cranes and the wetland, grassland, and other ecosystems on which they depend. ICF is dedicated to providing experience, knowledge, and inspiration to involve people in resolving threats to these ecosystems.
