Becoming a Crane "Parent"

Cranes are a charismatic family of birds. People living near them usually have a profound reverence for these magnificent birds. In Japan, cranes are honored as sacred symbols of long life and a happy marriage. In North America, Africa, and Australia, native inhabitants have incorporated the cranes’ graceful movements into their own dances. Yet despite their grace and beauty, cranes comprise one of the most endangered families of birds in the world. Eleven of the 15 species of cranes are vulnerable to extinction.

You can help us save the cranes and their habitat by becoming a crane "parent". For an adoption fee of just $45.00, you’ll receive these benefits:
  • Certificate suitable for framing

  • Photograph and biography of your adopted crane

  • Crane species fact sheet

  • One year ICF membership including four issues of The ICF Bugle

  • 10% discount at the ICF gift shop

  • An ICF decal
If a school group adopts a crane, two FREE admissions may be applied toward a field trip to ICF.

Your support is crucial to the future of cranes--symbols of peace and happiness. By adopting a crane, you will support ICF’s research, education, habitat preservation and restoration, captive breeding, and reintroduction programs.
