Connecting Cranes and the Land

When Jeb came on staff in 1987 with a specialty in avian ecology his ability to look at the connections between birds, waters, landscapes and people helped shape the International Crane Foundation’s  approach to conservation around the world. These skills have led Jeb to direct crane research and land restoration projects in Southeast Asia, China and, closer to home, the wetlands and farm lands of Wisconsin. In the United States Jeb is working with Midwestern farmers to find solutions to crop damage caused by Sandhill Cranes, promotion of conservation on farms through collaboration with the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association, and most recently the reintroduction of Whooping Cranes to Wisconsin. Jeb received Wildlife Biology degrees from the University of North Dakota (M.S.) and from the University of Minnesota (B.S.).
