Protect Threatened and Endangered Species of Cranes Around the World.
The endowment fund at the International Crane Foundation, with over $16 million in assets, primarily provides ongoing operational support to preserve and protect threatened and endangered species of cranes around the world.
Investments are directed by the Board of Directors and managed by a professional money management firm. Providing guidelines that create a balanced portfolio, the Board authorizes distributions each year, currently 5% of year-end market value. Approximately 11% of the endowment fund is restricted to various designated accounts by the donor, and each year the distribution is provided for specific purposes with Board approval.
ICF policy provides that all gifts made through an individual's estate are designated for the endowment fund to create a lasting legacy. Current gifts to the endowment fund can be designated to a current program, operational support, or named for an individual based on the amount of the gift at the donor's direction.
Building a substantial endowment will help to ensure ICF's future financial stability and provide opportunities to continue and expand our vision on a local, regional, and global basis.
