AVICULTURE INTERNSHIP Background: Interns must have a strong interest in the fields of zoology, conservation biology or related fields. Candidate will gain valuable hands-on experience working with the ICF Crane Conservation Department staff on the care and management of endangered cranes including:

The work week is 5 days in length and approximately 40-45 hours. Interns usually work weekends but will have two consecutive days off during Monday – Friday period. Much of the work time is spent outdoors in ICF’s “Crane City”, our captive crane facility, in all weather conditions found in Wisconsin. ICF’s crane flock consists of about 100 individual cranes from each of the 15 crane species world-wide. Internship positions are for 6 months. Stipend and free housing is provided. Requirements: Two years of college or equivalent practical experience, with knowledge of and interest in bird husbandry/zoo keeping. General knowledge of breeding birds and strong computer, communication and critical thinking skills. Must be able to carry a 50 pound food bag, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and have a valid driver's license. Application Procedure: |
